This text focuses on scientific as well as engineering aspects of enzyme technology, including recent advances in protein and metabolic engineering; supramolecular biochemistry (nanotechnology); new biocatalysts, such as ribozymes and abazymes; metal-based biocatalysts; and glycosylation. The important lipase programme of the EEC is widely discussed.
