A little girl named Holly lives in a house that has a front door with a cat flap. But poor Holly doesn't have a cat. One night, Holly makes a wish upon a star. She wishes for a kitten, but instead she gets a big surprise. It's a crash at her bedroom window sill -- and gazing through the glass, she finds herself looking at the biggest, scruffiest cat she's ever seen in her life. "It's a mistake!" cries Holly, but Tom, the scruffy old cat, just gives her a big, crooked smile. She shoos him away, but Tom keeps coming back, day after day.
